My father taught me how to play when I was a young boy. My interest in chess blossomed in my school years (Grade 7 to Grade 12). I represented my home Province of Newfoundland in 1989 at the first XIOS chess championship in Ottawa. It was a great experience to meet and play with other chessplayers from accross the Country of Canada.
