Since accepting the need to adhere to WL and EL rules concerning admissions and removals (see this thread from July 2023) we have always intended to try and have those rules changed.

With WL and EL under new administration, now might be the time to try and do this. As these were Mago's rules, there is no implied criticism of the new league admins.

We need to agree two things:

1. Exactly what rule changes do we want?

2. How will we go about trying to get them changed?

Presumably we want the discretion to refuse admission and/or to remove members with poor timeout records (however defined). Edit: No, not "discretion". See post 5 below.

Michael has also said the following: "One rule we should definitely push to change is the one that ALL account closures for any reason get counted as equivalent to a fair play ban with penalty points enforced. The idea behind that ban was that someone might close their own account to try to evade a fair play ban, but it's been possible to report closed accounts for years, so the underlying reason no longer applies, and it never made sense anyway since most self-closed accounts are clean."

I think we should keep the list of our requests short and simple, to maximise the chance of their being accepted. For that reason, I think that the admission/removal issue should perhaps take priority over Michael's (valid) point. If we are successful with a limited rule change, we can try again at a later date for other changes.

In terms of how to effect change, my preference is to first seek consensus among a number of other national teams before making representations to the EL/WL admins.
